Brough Primary school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children. See individual subject pages for intent, implementation and impact.

Covid 19In normal times, the curriculum is enhanced by a number of extremely successful educational visits and other specially organised events in school, to provide those vital first hand experiences for children. At present we are not planning any residential vists and visitors to school are only allowed for a limited number of reasons. We have recently introduced the Now Press Play immersive school trip destinations to go some way to replacing these experiences for the children.  Now Press Play aims are given below:-

  • To improve children’s understanding of the curriculum
  • To ignite children’s imaginations
  • To support teachers in bringing the curriculum to life
  • To provide schoolswith an affordable resource that makes learning exciting, engaging and relevant

Topics covered incorporate the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum 2014 and other experiences and opportunities which best meet the learning and developmental needs of the pupils in our school. The curriculum incorporates all aspects of social, moral, spiritual and cultural education as well as being reactive to events that are happening in the world outside schoola so that it is engaging and meaningful for all pupils in all year groups. It is therefore quite normal for topics to change from year to year. The curriculum makes use of areas of local interest such as The Humber, as well as studying local historically important figures such as William Wilberforce.  Click below on the subject areas for more information:
